Operational Sequence
We start by inspecting the floor — checking whether it's a VDF or normal pour, the concrete grade, and the overall surface condition. If seepage was flagged, we test for moisture, and any contaminated or cracked areas are marked out for separate treatment before work begins.
Where old or damaged concrete needs to be broken out, this is done as a dedicated stage before grinding starts. It's only carried out if it's part of IndigoInd's agreed scope, and is priced and scheduled separately from the main floor work.
Hairline cracks are routed out and filled with a rigid epoxy/PU repair compound. Larger structural cracks or spalled (broken/flaking) patches are repaired as recommended by the site engineer. These repairs are given time to cure fully before grinding starts.
The first grinding pass opens up the surface, stripping away any existing coating and exposing sound concrete underneath. On VDF floors this step is lighter, since the surface is already denser and needs less material removed. Any oil-contaminated patches are ground deeper to fully clear the contamination, and high spots or trowel marks are levelled out at this stage.
Once the surface is clean and dust-free, we apply a chemical densifier across the whole floor. This soaks into the concrete and hardens it from within, which is what gives the finished floor its strength and resistance to future dust release. Excess product is squeegeed off, and a second coat is applied only where the surface has absorbed more than usual.
With finer diamond pads, we smooth out the marks left by the first grinding pass and start to bring out the look of the selected finish — Salt & Pepper, Heavy Aggregate, Cream, and so on.
We continue polishing through progressively finer pads up to the agreed level — 5, 7, or 12-step — to reach the target Sheen you've chosen (Matte, Semi Gloss, or Gloss). Edges along walls and columns are polished by hand to match the rest of the floor.
If control joints are required, we saw-cut them at the agreed layout before the final polish pass, so the cut edges are polished along with the rest of the floor.
If line marking is needed — traffic lanes, racking bays, safety zones — it's applied to your agreed layout and colour, timed either before or after the sealer coat depending on your preference.
If a clear or coloured sealer has been specified, it's applied in thin, even coats and given full time to cure before the floor takes any foot or vehicle traffic. If a densifier-only finish was agreed, this step is skipped.
A final high-speed burnishing pass brings the floor up to its finished gloss level. We check that the sheen is even across the whole floor, right out to the edges, before moving to handover.
All grinding is done with continuous dust extraction to keep the site clean while we work. If Strict dust control was requested for your site, we use full containment barriers and negative-pressure extraction, and agree working hours with you in advance.
Before handover, we walk the floor to check sheen consistency, edge finish, and the quality of any joints or line marking against what was agreed. The finished floor is photo-documented, and any areas worth flagging are pointed out to you at handover.
Cleaning & Equipment
Clean housing and blower with air compressor after use. Inspect and replace worn diamond segments/pads before next job.
Empty collection drum, clean/replace HEPA filter as needed. Check hose connections for leaks before storage.
Rinse immediately after use — do not allow product to dry on tools. Store separately from sealer applicators.
Clean pad driver, inspect pads for wear, replace as needed. Wipe down and coil cable for storage.
Count and log all tools before leaving site. Report any damage or missing items to site manager same day.
Photo document the finished floor before handover. Leave client site in a workable, dust-free condition.
