Operational Procedure
We begin by assessing the pool, sauna or steam-room area, including the structure, dimensions, substrate, water exposure, temperature conditions, drainage and final finish.
The concrete, plaster or other substrate is inspected for cracks, honeycombing, weak areas, contamination and other defects. Unsuitable or damaged material is removed and the surface is prepared to receive the waterproofing system.
Cracks, construction joints, movement joints and other areas of potential movement are treated using suitable compatible materials before the main waterproofing application.
Pool inlets, outlets, drains, overflow channels, electrical penetrations, pipe penetrations and other service openings are carefully detailed to maintain continuity of the waterproofing system.
Internal corners, external corners, steps, benches, pool edges and other changes in direction are treated to ensure continuous waterproofing across the complete surface.
Where required by the selected system, a compatible primer or base treatment is applied to the prepared substrate before the waterproofing layers are installed.
The selected waterproofing system is applied uniformly to the prepared substrate at the specified coverage and thickness. Multiple coats are applied where required, with appropriate curing or drying time between coats.
Where specified, reinforcement mesh, fabric or additional waterproofing layers are incorporated at cracks, joints, corners, penetrations and other areas requiring additional protection.
For sauna and steam-room applications, the waterproofing system is continued across the specified floor and wall areas, with particular attention to corners, penetrations, floor-to-wall junctions and areas exposed to repeated heat and moisture.
The completed waterproofing is inspected to verify continuous coverage, adequate detailing and treatment of all identified penetrations, joints, corners and drainage points.
Where applicable, the waterproofed pool or wet area is subjected to an agreed water or ponding test after the required curing period. The area is inspected for leakage or water loss before the final finish proceeds.
After successful completion of the waterproofing and testing requirements, the waterproofed surface is protected from damage during subsequent construction. The surface is prepared for the specified tile, mosaic, stone, screed or other final finish.
The completed waterproofing installation is inspected and photo-documented. The waterproofed area is handed over after the required curing, testing and protection stages have been completed.
Cleaning & Equipment
Brushes, rollers, and trowels are cleaned immediately after use — waterproofing coatings harden fast and ruin tools left uncleaned.
Drum mixers and paddles are rinsed between batches, especially when switching between different waterproofing systems.
Water/pond testing setup (hoses, plugs, gauges) is drained and stored dry after each test.
Excess material, packaging, and debris from hacking/repair work is cleared before handover, leaving the site in a workable condition.
